Betty Marie Benfield Johnson

Betty M. Benfield Johnson, 73, of Statesville passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at Forsyth Medical Center.
She was born on May 24, 1946 to the late Charlie Albert Benfield and Effie Campbell Benfield.
Betty was a graduate of Harmony High School and was self employed at Johnson Farms. She loved working in her flowers. You would also find her with a camera in her hand taking pictures of birds and butterflies. She enjoyed writing poems. She loved her Lord and enjoyed being with her family.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 54 years, Donald R. Johnson, a son; Timmy D. Johnson, 2 daughters; Lorrie J. Redmond (Joe), and Donna Finlayson, 3 grandchildren who she loved and adored; Daniel Redmond, Rebecca Redmond and Tyler Finlayson. She is also survived by her brother; Donald L. Benfield, a very special family member; Duncan Finlayson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 14, 2020 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church at 2:00 pm with the Rev. Jerry Varner, Rev. Byron Allison and Rev. David Childress officiating. Burial will follow in the Olin UMC Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 12:30 to 2:00 pm prior to the service.
