Betty Billington

Mrs. Betty Joan Osburn Billington, 72, of Taylorsville Hwy., Statesville, NC passed away, Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2010 at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Billington was born January 30, 1938 in Tyler, Arkansas and was the daughter of the late John David Osburn and Zula Isabelle Owen Osburn. She was a graduate of Benton Harbor High School and also completed her EMT training. On June 12, 1955, she was married to John Billington, who survives of the home. She was a member of Monticello Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and she was the After School Care Director at Monticello School and was lovingly know as "Mrs. B". Mrs. Billington was an avid quilter, she loved to sew, sing, cook, travel, camp and to spend time with her family. In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Joni Tumbleson (Mark) of Buchanan, MI, two sons, John O. Billington (Deborah) of Galien, MI, Bruce Billington (Teresa) of Statesville, seven grandchildren, Bryan and Jerrod Tumbleson, John R., Kenneth, Craig, Kyle and Olivia Billington; seven great grandchildren, one brother, Frank Osburn (Kathy), four sisters, Wanda Gibson (Carroll), Fleda Shearer (William), Nona Thompson (W.K.) and Pat Francis (Glen). Mrs. Billington was preceded in death by a grandson, Jacob Billington and one sister, Mildred Smith and one brother, Kenneth Osburn. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, Dec 20, 2010 at Monticello Baptist Church with Rev. Bobby Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 3:00-5:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be the seven grandchildren.
