Bessie Mae White Wyatt Stafford, 84, of Newton and formerly of Statesville, passed away, Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at Maple Leaf of Statesville. Ms. Stafford was born March 9, 1929 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late James Claude White and Clara Carrington White. She attended Iredell County schools and worked in Manufacturing before retiring as a cook. She was a member of East First Street Baptist Church in Newton, NC and was first married to the late James Richard Wyatt and later married the late Avery J. Stafford. Ms. Stafford is survived by one daughter, Betty W. Privette (Van) of Harmony, two sons, Steve Wyatt (Brenda) of Statesville, David Lee Wyatt (Terri) of Statesville, one daughter-in-law, Pat Wyatt of Statesville, 14 grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren, one brother, one sister and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one son, James Ray Wyatt, one daughter, Rita Faye Wyatt Fesperman, one granddaughter, Angela Wyatt, one great grandson, Nicholas Wyatt and two brothers. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 13, 2013 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Allen McCoy officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Victory Baptist Church Cemetery.
