Mrs. Bessie Nancy Ann Darlene Byers Williams, 74, of Statesville, died Sunday, April 2, 2017, at CMC University. Mrs. Williams was born in Wilkes County, NC on November 29, 1942, and was the daughter of the late Fred Byers and Della Miller Byers. She attended Wilkes County schools and on May 27, 1966, she married Claris Williams, Jr. Mrs. Williams was employed with International Paper for 26 years before her retirement. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Williams and a brother, Burl Byers. She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Claris Williams, Jr. of the home, one granddaughter, Tabitha Williams-Hughes (Tyler) of Asheville, NC, a grandson, Charles Loftin of Asheboro, NC and a great-granddaughter, Tallulah Hughes of Asheville. She is also survived by two sisters, Reba Blackburn of Ferguson, NC and Mary Brown (Harlin) of Wilkesboro, two brothers, James Byers (Bertie) of Moravian Falls and Wayne Byers of Wilkesboro along with a sister-in-law Laura Byers of Wilkesboro. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews along with her beloved in-laws from Claris’ family. Funeral services for Darlene Williams will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Living Word Ministries with Pastor James Lewis and Rev. Carl Ray Williams officiating. There will be no formal visitation but the body will lie in state for one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
