Mrs. Barbara Sills Myers, 84, of Statesville, died Saturday, December 23, 2017 at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Rowan County on November 3, 1933, she was a daughter of the late John William Sills and Bertie Torrence Sills. Barbara was a homemaker and faithful member of Landmark Church of God where she taught Sunday School for 50 years and was active in the Ladies Ministry. She was a prayer warrior whose unwavering faith in all circumstances in life was a testimony to others. Her greatest desire was to see others come to know Christ as their Savior so they would have eternal life. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” (Romans 10:9) Her life verse was Romans 14:8, "For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's." She was preceded in death by her husband, James (Jim) Myers, Sr., a brother, Donald Sills and a sister, Virginia Johnson. Survivors include sons, Jerry Myers and his wife, Wanda, Jimmy Myers, Jr., daughters, Sheila Cook and her husband, Paul and Michelle DeHart and her husband, Tim, all of Statesville. Also surviving are sisters, Helen Day, Laura Galloway and her twin sister, Betty Oates all of Gastonia. Additional survivors include grandchildren: Jason Myers, Matthew Cook, Hannah Cook, Cassidy DeHart, Caitlyn Cook, Samantha DeHart and Daniel Cook along with a great grandchild, Logan Myers. She also had four step grandchildren: Erika, Alexa and Monica Swann and Kelli Ervin. Services celebrating Barbara’s life will be conducted at 2:00 Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Landmark Church Of God with Pastor Phil Pearson officiating, Jeff Stephens and son-in-law, Paul Cook speaking. The family will greet friends at the church for one hour prior to the service and burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be sent online to the family to
