Aline (Mayberry) Bruce

Aline Mayberry Bruce, 80, of Statesville, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Bruce was born in Iredell County on April 15, 1936, and was the daughter of the late Ikard and Retta Campbell Mayberry.  In 1953 she married W.B. Bruce, who preceded her in death on January 2, 2008.  Mrs. Bruce was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Dennis Ray Bruce, one granddaughter, Angie D. Jordan, three brothers, Jewel, Fleet, and Frank Mayberry and three sisters, Ruby Keller, Earline Pearson and Ola Neal. She is survived by two sons, Chad Bruce (Melissa) of Statesville and Roger Bruce (Sherry) of Troutman along with two daughters, Teressa Meador (James) and Rita Duke (Dean), all of Troutman.  She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Eric and Sierra Bruce, Stephanie Moore, Brittany Devoid, Tonya and Chris Meadors, Shannon Hedrick, and Shelly Hines.  She is further 15 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild along with her K-9 companions, Lilly, Daisy, and Roxy. She was a loving mother and grandmother and she will be missed by all who knew her. Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, January 29, 2017, in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Lewis officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.  The family will visit with friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM.
